The Butterfly made it on to the front cover of the August '98 edition of Sailing magazine, and they and the photgrapher have given us permission to reproduce it here. They have a great website for you to check out at sailingonline.com.

The accompanying caption; "On the Cover; In the hot summer sun on Michigan's Torch Lake, two sailors kept watchful eyes on wind, water, sail and other boats as they coaxed their Butterfly to a more favorable position in a Western Michigan Yachting Association regatta last August."

'63 Nationals

The 1963 Butterfly National Championship , held at big Whitefish Lake MI, had the following winners:

Left to right, according to the newspaper caption; Mrs. Dale Frank of Cedar Springs making the trophy presentation to Champion Jim Miller and crews Mary and Robert, with Fred Stevens and brother Scott 2nd for the second year in a row, and Mrs Jack Swain and crews Sally and Jeff in 3rd.

However, one of the Miller family who was actually there sent us a correction; the young girl, second from left, is Julie Miller, neice of Jim Miller, and the 8-yr-old boy in front of Jim is his son, Scott.
